Crater by Armando Jenkins-Vazquez

For the past few years, I’ve been walking the streets and trails of Decorah, Iowa with my camera. What started as a simple habit—just getting outside and noticing things—turned into a deeper way of seeing the town. Decorah sits in the Driftless area, a landscape shaped by deep time and untouched by glaciers. It also happens to rest within the footprint of a meteorite impact from 465 million years ago. That fact stayed with me and became a guide for this project. It’s why I named this book Crater: a reminder that even a place that feels beautifully ordinary carries layers of history and mystery beneath the surface.
