Crater | Photography book by Armando Jenkins-Vazquez

For the past few years, I’ve walked the streets and trails of Decorah, Iowa with a camera. What began as a habit became a way of paying attention: to the changing light through the seasons, the animals that share the town with us, and the landscape and small details of this place.

Decorah sits in the Driftless Area, a landscape shaped by deep time and left untouched by glaciers. It also lies within the footprint of a meteorite impact 465 million years ago. That fact stayed with me as I took photos and became the book’s guide. Crater is about how a place that seems ordinary holds layers of time and mystery beneath it.

Releasing November 2026.
